MARKET DAY & TRACEABILITY

On market days during the harvest season, the collectors bring their frankincense  resins to the collection centres by donkey.

After weighing, each collector is paid cash on delivery, at least 50% above the standard price, which is part of our fair trade policy.

We also pay a premium fund benefitting the community, such as repairing a solar borehole used by the collector communities.

Our latest contribution is paying for goats which can be owned by the collector groups. This helps to empower the pastoralist women, who normally are not allowed to own livestock.

Each purchase is recorded in a purchase book. The gums are packed in clean sacks and loaded onto the pickup for transportation to the distillation centre. For traceability the same lot numbers are on the purchase sheets, sacks, and drums for export.
